My husband is and acholic with chirosis of the liver I can not get him to go the doctors because he was rejected from transplant because they found achol in his system but his symptoms are getting worse I fear he is getting HE for his personality has change and he can't sleep

what can we do? I mean we are alcoholics who stopped or are sober now.....that does not seem to be what your husband is seeking if he is still drinking.....only he can make the decision to quit it sounds bad as chirosis is deadly

You can clearly see what his drinking is doing to him but LOOK at what his alcoholism is doing to YOU!

You need alot of support for yourself and Alanon is a great place to find that support.

agreed alanon has meetings online and also in person in some places....and they might even have zoom meetings....so try contacting them in your local area....call AA there and ask them to give you Alanon's tele number they will have it...AA is easy to find on yellow pages online yp.com

Alcoholics are selfish to the core. Quite honestly if you want to know the truth ... I would stop doing ANyTHiNg , ANYTHING , for him. The more you do the worse it will get. I suggest you leave . Let him clean his own dish, bed, and anything else.

He’s got a fatal disease and the way to save him is to stop saving him, honestly. He’s got to do it for himself

I dont do anything at this point to get him alcohol but he brings it into the house. I am so tired of being the hall monitor it is almost easier to let him continue to go down the path that he is going. He made it clear that once he was rejected that he didnt want anything to do with doctors outside of getting drained for his fluid. All doctors kept calling him an alcoholic which he took as an assault to his personality

It sounds like he is in denial. It's not your fault, so never hold on to any guilt over it. You are doing nothing wrong.

You can't really help him unless he is willing to be helped.....wants you to help him.....and asks you to help him. Even then, you can only help him to help himself.

We will keep you and him in our thoughts and prayers.

You are not his hall monitor, he is a grown ass adult that needs to take responsibility - you need to look after you - Alanon would be a great first step to doing that, take care
