Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I think not. I won't respond to manipulative posts or ranting posts from others posting while drunk. On the other hand, I also don't agree with name calling or degrading other people, drunk or not. My experience is my greatest asset in helping another alcoholic. I remember where I come from. No one in AA held my hand or chased me around with "there, there, now" comments. I'm the one to whom it is up. In AA or not, action is key to getting and staying sober. That has been my experience. If someone finds their way here, I have a feeling they already know whether they have a problem with booze or not.
I have been guilty of being a bit of a hard ass to him recently my self. I have also listened to him for about a year. I have seen his hand held countless times and given countless advise on trying different things. I have sent words of encouragement just recently. I am not a believer in tough love, but everything else has been tried with him and seems to fall on deaf ears. He says yes, yes, yes, but NO action.
I may have missed them, but I have also never seen him send words of encouragement or support to anyone...that concerns me.
That being said, I do appreciate your post and will not comment further on his posts unless I have something positive to say.
