Isn't it wonderful to wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning hangover free. Ive just been for a 20min run on my treadmill and am loving this sober life. only been 3 weeks so Im not taking anything for granted. Im wondering if hypnosis really did help me because Im not craving alcohol like I did when I gave up before. Ive said to myself if i slip up I will go to AA.
This time last year I was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer on my face. i hade a wide local excision and Im now left with a big scar down my face. I was then given the all clear from cancer. throughout the whole process i drank a lot. Even when given the all clear as I felt sorry for myself with a scar. But now I feel so lucky to be alive and to do things with my kids. All of which you cant really appreciate when drunk or hungover. good luck to you all.

Thanks for sharing hati, I really like your renewed zest for life and sobriety! Life is a gift.

I have a friend in AA who has gone through a lot of facial surgery due to cancer. This was in sobriety. She drank again for a while after the worst of it. We've been through the difficulties she faced with her and it has had a profound effect on us all. For some time she only felt "safe" outside going to meetings but she is an amazingly brave woman and has overcome it. She is full of gratitude for her survival and her renewed sobriety and we love her dearly.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend whatever you do and I bet your kids have a great weekend with their sober Mum!

I agree that waking up and not feeling guilty/worthless/hungover/anxious is the BEST! Sorry about the cancer scare...I can relate to scar, I have a large scar on my face from when I was a child - and I alway felt like less of a girl - but I have realized now that the people who love you don't see it. And the people who see it and make judgements are not worth your time. Good luck on your journey.

I am not at all surprised that hypnosis helped you. Hypnosis can't make you want to quit, but if you have decided to quit, it can make it a whole lot easier!. I am a certified hypnotist and know first hand how it can be used to support positive change.

Can hypnosis really help with cravings, and the obsession to drink? I was sober last year for 8 months, and this year (currently) for 3 months. But the cravings, and the obsession seem to only get worse. I am in the 12 steps with sponsor and everything, but would be willing to try anything that might help my chances to remain sober.

Im no expert righthere. i just did a free hypnosis on you tube to stop drinking and all i can say is Im not craving like I did all the other times Ive tried to give up and Im 44yrs old and been a pretty heavy drinkersince a teenager. Its supposed to get into ypur subconscious mind or something. The part of your mind that tells you to do things without thinking like walking and driving (when you have done it for yesrs) and drinking i suppose that becomes like a habit.

It may not work for others but Im pretty sure it helped me. I am really determined to stop this time though. worth a try!!
