Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Truly, Ashley, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy and you certainly are not even close to that category.
I'm am only going to suggest practicing gratefulness.
Sometimes we seriously need to stop and smell those gorgeous roses that are somewhere around the corner or right in front of us.
You need a hug and a laugh.
((((Ashley))))
What used to feel boring now feels like serenity. :)
I live alone, I do not have kids, do not need a man but seem to not be interested in too much these days, I know I need to find a hobby but when nothing interest you it makes it kind of hard...
I am not on here trying to complain and moan, just talking about how I feel...
And yes Jim you do have a point, I do NOT want those days back, I do not want to drink, I just want to feel normal...
Like you, work is a major part of my life and that is ok too. When work sucks, I remind myself to be grateful that I have a job.
My sponsor suggested I try new things and now I have a goal to try a new thing each month to 'get out of myself'.
Last week I went to the theatre on my own and had an awesome time. I nearly didnt go and was giving myself a hard time, it would have been easy to stay at home! I did and walked out of there on cloud 9 :)))))))
'You are part of the world, the world isnt part of you' so you have to get yourself into it :)
I'm hoping it's just the winter blahs & will go away soon. When drinking, I'd do much of the same except time would pass faster & my mind was so numb, I guess I didn't realize I was bored. Plus I think a lot of people get a little blah after the holidays.
I needed to hear everything said here, thanks to you all, it's helped me too! Ya'll are really a huge help. :) Hope everyone has a great day today.
Thanks coogee, I know I do need to get out and DO more, even if like m8bear said, I do it alone at first...
Okay, so I made a list last night of things that I could be doing...it helped and I am going to put it on the fridge so that I can see it all the time and know there is no real reason for me to be sitting in the house :)
Thanks for the encouragement guys, I know I just need to get off my butt and DO IT...
I think us alcoholics especially need all the bells and whistles that simply cannot sustain themselves in a normal life-so we make bs excitement. Make sense?
What it sounds like you're experiencing is learning how to live without booze. The longer you go between drinks, the more comfortable you will become. What is your recovery plan? Live support system?
