Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Woke up this morning to try and change my life
I have self medicated with alcohol for way to long and causes so much chaos with my wife and kids that I am truly ashamed of myself
I don't understand how my wife can keep loving me, but for odd reason I think she does, or maybe see I just staying together for the sake of the kids?
My brain is so confused and it scares me beyond belief to stop drinking and feel my feeling and deal with the multiple issues I got going on
Clearly I am high depressed and I know alcohol is not helping the issue
so I came here for support and learn for other

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Have you been diagnosed with depression? You do know that alcohol is classified as a depressant, right? Maybe your drinking is why you are "high depressed".
I got sober in AA and remain sober for going on 15 years. No more shame and confusion for my anymore.
Some people get a bad toothache but they hate going to the dentist so they suffer the pain for days until eventually, they decide that they have had enough. Similarly, with alcoholism, the pain is going to keep getting worse until some sort of treatment is applied.
Many alcoholics come to a point where they feel that cannot live with alcohol or live without it. The first part is based on reality and the “cannot live without it” is fiction that comes from a brain that is ravaged by alcohol. From my own experience, I can tell you that the fear of living without alcohol will disappear completely once you have been sober for a while.
Personally, I was unable to stay sober without the help of Alocoholics Anonymous but once I started going to meetings, what had been totally impossible before became not only doable but almost easy.
To answer you question
No I have not been diagnosed by a doctor for depression, but I know I am and I also know I have to deal with it together with my alcoholism
I am working on putting a plan of attack together
I know aa is not for me, glad it worked for both of you and congratulations on being sober, glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel
If you stay the course and those the right pathway to heal from this disease
Thank you again
I also had alot of fear in dealing with multiple issues but I was treated for those problems in the 3 week IOP I was in. Every hospital has them. You just need a referal from your family doctor or you can go to the alcohol and substance abuse center at your nearest hospital, for an evaluation. They will simply ask you a bunch of questions designed to measure the severity of your alcoholism, so they can know the best treatment options to give you.
I remember every wednesday was family day and our family was invited to participate in a question and answer session with us and with the counselors to help us readjust to a sober lifestyle but it was AA which gave me the best support. I got a sponser and did the steps which helped me tremendously!
Today, I am happier then I have ever been in my life! I wish the same for you!
God Bless
I am hurting really bad @ this very moment, but I wll get though this
I am not going to let alcohol ruin my life anymore

I know the temptation will be many , like tonight where I meet some friend for dinner
I held firm though making up an excuse that I was on medicin
I know I need a better solution than that but at least it got me though the night
And that all I am asking for a this time
Tomorrow is a day. I will be spending on putting an attack plan together to combat this disease
Thank you for listening
