Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Anyway, lots of great material, even for someone who should be in the AlAnon Support Group. Thanks for letting me "crash at your pad" until I can recharge. It's been a draining two weeks!
There is a solution
My first go round through the treatment mill was quickly unsuccesful due to one simple fact...
I did not take step one seriously then. I believed that alcohol had kicked my ass and that my life was unmanageable , but I didn't surrender to the fact that I was powerless.
The next move I made was not to a.a. or to even open the big book, it was to the grocery in the wine dept.
Cunning, baffling and powerful!
So back out for another miserable year or so, to keep experimenting in the killing fields!
Amazed I did not die...
The next trip to treatment, somewhere along the line the first step took root in me.
What was different? I came to believe I was powerless, I did follow direction and I haven't looked back.
Your post gjm, hits me right in the core of who I am becoming as a sober person in daily recovery.
Step one is like breath itself.
Thank you for a wonderful breath of fresh air today.
So, anyone who does think about going back out, having ONE drink (what a joke that is!), or one night, remember step one and get to a meeting or pick up a phone. It's not that easy being green, as Kermit said.
There is a solution.
