To all the addicts in the house
Hey there, and Congratulations!
If you are reading this you are still alive!
That is no small thing for someone with a terminal illness
which is actively trying to kill you.
You wake up and there's a bomb in your head, and every day you
do the sober deal you
move the timer back from boom
for another 24 hours.
Tricky part is,
this bomb doesn't tick.
It whispers.
Be careful what you think about what you think.
It's no tragedy or surprise that you have an alcoholic thought.
My God, you're an alcoholic! Of course you're going to have alcoholic thoughts!
The tragedy is thinking about the thought and deciding that
it might
be right.
The only true ward I've found to guard against the sick whisper in my head
(the fuck it or the you deserve or the why keep on or the it's your turn or the I'll show them)
is
talking about what I'm thinking,
sharing about how I'm feeling and
praying about what I'm doing.
Congratulations! You're still alive.
Now make it count for something
and go help.

These two...who I love as speakers even if they are out there...
would likely disagree strongly on the "talking and sharing" unless its before or after a meeting. Not in it.

I don't think I have a bomb ticking in my head about alcohol. Move back the boom for another 24 hours? What a dismal way to view life.

Sticky - Chris and Meyers are pretty hardcore, but in a good way. I like them. Love their message, even though they are pretty darn loopy. Mad even :) I used to get annoyed at first how they delivered the message, but got them soon enough. Not many of the circuit speakers can drop bombs like they can (and that's a good thing - don't think I could handle entire groups of Chris and Meyers Reimers), and it's refreshing at times. I have found messengers like Sandy B, Peter M, Mark H, Chris S, etc. just as instructive and inspiring, without the boombastic styling. But boy is there a plethora there at xa.

In the end, for this alcoholic, it's about the message and not the messenger.
Then instead of focussing on the alcohol, start focussing on things in life I wanted to do. Without being drunk. The anticipation in thought of what I could do sober fed a lot of desire to motivate me towards doing something new and different than what I used to. He's a funny bloke Mr SP. 25 years huh. Pretty amazing.
I guess that it's horses for courses and so long as no Tradition 7 money is being used to pay their fares there's little harm in it.
