Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Beatifully stated.
one thing Iearned in spiritual counseling eepecially when it comes to the forgiveness of others - forgiveness is NOT acceptance. yOu don't have keep someone in your life just because you forgive the person
Sometimes only prayer works. But so far it has always worked. Sometimes I must pray longer then other times but it is such a burden to have the resentments lifted from me.
I know what I will be doing tonight :P
Peace
This is just my opinion, but I believe that forgiveness isn't about putting ourselves in the firing line again, if we have been wronged or abused. We have a responsibility to set healthy boundaries in ways that treat both ourselves the others in our lives with dignity. This could involve taking someone to court if a crime has been committed.
Forgiving is not letting someone off the hook. It's about freeing ourselves from resentments, anger and self inflicted harm. Letting resentments fester is like drinking poison to get back at someone else.
Next, we have to let go of whatever we are forgiving; let go of the toxicity and free ourselves from the chains of the past.
I've needed help from my higher power to achieve any measure of forgiveness because it is in my nature to want to make other's responsible for the way I feel. Growing in recovery means taking responsibility for our feelings and our behaviours, and letting others take responsibility for theirs. What a struggle this has been at times for me! lol
Forgiving others or myself for past transgressions has been some of the hardest recovery work I've done to date...and will continue to do. It's a process not an event.
