Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Ya...driving at night sober...what a thought!
thx
Peace
My first time in a while watching a movie and remembering it afterwards.
Another: going to a doc and NOT sitting there wondering how I could edge in the convo that I needed benzos, pain pills.....just getting boring meds. I was so proud!
Going to school to teach art NOT hungover. Grand!
1. Being able to drive to pick my daughter up at 11:00PM without worrying about the cops (of course, my first time doing this I almost hit a mail box, lol)
2. The first time waking up instead of coming to.
3. Playing with my kids and them knowing I was REALLY there with them.
I remember all the times I promised my wife I would be home for my childrens birthdays and I had full intentions of being there until I took that first drink and if I didn't come home drunk that day it was the next day full of shame guilt and remorse
I never want to forget the looks on my wifes and children faces only one example.
2 Being able to drive my car without looking in the reavision mirror every minute it's simular to driving your car at 80 MPH in a 30 Mph zone always looking over your shoulder.
3 Being pulled over by the police for a breath test knowing I hadn't had anything to drink and if I waqsn't pulled over driving around the block until I was .lol
Having a girl who was a friend I never thought that would ever happen now I have a few.
O what a feeling.
God Bless...
Lionel
2.Being able to help someone else with out having alterior motives
3.Being able to look my kids in their eyes with out the feeling of guilt and shame
4.Being able to be in the house alone with out having to look under the bed or in the closet (am I the only one who did this?)
5.having sex with out being under the influence
6.fishing just to catch fish lol
7.barbeque and not burning it
1. First sober Easter in a gazillion years (I must have been grieving Christ's death all those years!! lol)
2. Going out to dinner without driving drunk.
3. First of my birthdays in many years sober.
4. First time dancing sober - at an AA Convention dance. I felt like such a git, but it got better when I realised not one person was looking at me and judging me - I actually WASN'T the centre of attention which I was sometimes in my drinking - for all the wrong reasons.
5. First time in adulthood talking to a man I was attracted to sober.
6. First Christmas and New Years sober in a gazillion years. (And with all those types of milestones, not waking up with someone I didn't know and not even knowing where I was or where my car was, or whether I had killed someone with it.)
7. First time in many years I could walk down the street with my head held high as a woman of dignity (an incredible gift as it was one of the major things that brought me back into the Human Race). I'm crying now.
And good on you Anna for your first sober Christmas in 20 years - One Day At a Time.
2) Looking in the mirror and seeing the whites of my eyes rather than yellow of my eyes.
3) Camping Sober. Completely vomit free and no bruises or cuts or burns.
2) Being able to look at my sisters and be sober and happy as them!
3) Being able to say, I quit drinking, and be oh so proud to say it!
Thanx Anna, Merry Christmas
I've only been sober a little over a month, but I've already had a few firsts -
1~going to my job not hungover - ya know, someone actually noticed!
2~telling my boyfriend how I feel and have him really know it's true because I said it sober. (great feeling)
3~craving liquor...and for the first time, looking in my freezer and there isn't a bottle in there.
and...I look forward to making another first this Saturday...it will be my 25th birthday - a milestone in my life...it will be my first sober birthday since I was 15.
