I really love it. I really agree with an article in July 2008 edition. It was on a study sponsored by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism comparing Twelve Steps with various treatments for those in an outpatient alcoholism treatment program.
Out of different types of therapy, therapy with the goal of helping bring about patients' active participation in AA was found to have the better outcome... The article said
"AA involvement leads to better drinking outcomes by buffering the negative effects of social networks supportive of drinking. Involvement in AA Fellowship exposes a person to a network of people who have a goal of sobriety and who support one another in achieving this goal."
How important it is for those of us who have tendencies to drink as a social buffer to find others who agree that alcohol is a problem and a good thing to abstain from, one day at a time, using the 12 steps of AA, versus a group of people who encourage drinking.

I love the Grapevine and I have both a paper subscription and access to the online archives. And every few months I put my used copies on the literature table at my local meeting and they're always gone in a few days.

the grapevine is great. i'm quite looking forward to getting it since i'm out of the country and there aren't many english-speaking meetings where i live. i'm driving two hours tomorrow to go to a meeting--but, hey, on the positive side, that an addition fours hours during which i can't drink.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
