Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
But I WILL offer anyone who wants to know if there's any other way besides Bo's way, (OOPS!! I meant AA :)I WILL.
Every reply you make towards me sounds like your jealous that you can't do it without AA! (?)
WHY????
I'm certainly not jealous of your way!!
I'm just so HAPPY AA works for you and others.
Why is you are so ANGRY that AA DIDN'T work for ME??
You are right, I am jealous of those who can still use will power to quit.
I had to invest thousands of hours into learning what it takes for a real alcoholic to quit. But now that I have found the solution, I can help those who need it most.
YOU can help people the way YOU want to as it worked/works for YOU.
I can help people the way I want to as it worked/works for ME.
Hmmmmmm.....I THINK that's what I've been trying to get across to you for like.....EVER! :)
The way it works for you is pretty much the "first resort" that most of us tried.
AA dry-drunks say; "Don't drink, go to meetings".
You say; "Don't drink, go to D.S."
I say; "If you can't choose not to drink, treat your root causes".
quit causing drama
I say it CAN be done MY way and not everyone needs AA.
If AA was the ONLY way, there'd be a LOT more people still drinking today.
I quit drinking 14 years beFORE I came to DS and I do NOT need to come here to continue what I started.
DS is NOT my support.
I am my support.
If I needed DS to be my support, I'd be drinking with closed minded people like you.
If I listened to everyone who said I can only quit using the AA way, I'd start drinking if I was forced to believe that!!
Again.....AA is NOT the ONLY way.
I'm not sure why you are so SURE you are so RIGHT?????????
Nuff said.
"I chose my name as where I am from its a slang term for someone who drinks way too much, though is not necessary a term for an alcholic. I actually wanted Dipso_Calypso but it didnt fit.
I saw the confusion it caused yesterday and was a bit worried but mostly confused lol."
Anyway everyone, I come here for support and to give support. Thank you for those who have given me support, and for the people who have attacked me, I wish you good luck too. I dont want anything from here but support.
I guess, if I hadn't asked him WAY back then, I'd have been as confused as everyone else has been lately. :)
ANYway, the other 2 Dipso's have changed their names and you are now the one and only!!!
Lucky YOU. LOL!!!!
So i got to the docs to register today, did it, then they said it would be thursday for an appointment - I cried at the desk (shame on me) they got a doc to phone me.
The doc listened and represcribed my antidepressants (that were at a large dose and I had been without for a week) as he felt I was withdrawing, he made me get blood tests for my alcoholism - 4 bottles + 2 for vitamin/iron and then 2 for letters i didnt understand.
But at least he knows, I left today in a black place, now i feel although its tough I will be ok until thursday.
But I am alone at home for another 10 hrs and want to drink.
You KNOW it'll only cause you to feel more depressed.
Hang in there!
You CAN do it, just stay STRONG!!!!! :)
Today Im feeling a little better, I ended up on a bottle of wine and a beer last night - not clever given that i took the antidepressants, a sleeping pill and some anti-inflammatories for my back (Im currently on a week sick from work - first time ever, first back pain ever)
Thankfully I was asleep before my partner came home.
Its still less than i normally have which is a big improvement. I cant wait until thursday to see the doctor.
Im confused as to my tratment - in England my doctor said i would be on medication and it would take 1 week to detox, In ireland the doctor on the phone talked about a community team and reducing my intake, then medication to keep me off it.
Has anyone had either of these types of treatment? Are they the same? Any advice?
