Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
All i can say about detox is feel the fear my friend and do it anyway. we are all afraid of the unkown, I guess it's just human nature. You will be so gald that you took this all important first step. (((HUGS))) to you, you'll be fine and do great!
You will be just fine. Good luck!
Your name sounds like it got a little controversial yesterday. No worries! Franks a great guy. This is a really good sight for almost all of your sobriety needs.
And Welcome to DS!
Not drinking does not treat alcoholism.
Since friday when I saw the doc who told me not to stop until I had medical help Ive done really well. Friday night -2/3 glasses wine, saturday none, today I bought one bottle and have had 2 glasses since 4pm (5 hrs ago) and once its gone. Im glad I got it though because I was starting to get really snappy and anxious.
I feel proud of this. Tomorrow I go to register with a doc, and hopefully will get seen in the next day or so.
I am taking the next 2 weeks off to make it a bit easier to go through.
I chose my name as where I am from its a slang term for someone who drinks way too much, though is not necessary a term for an alcholic. I actually wanted Dipso_Calypso but it didnt fit.
I saw the confusion it caused yesterday and was a bit worried but mostly confused lol.
Im looking forward to seeing the Doc tomorrow, though anxious that tonight may be my last drink.
But I want to say a heartfelt thank you for all the support it means so much and its great to talk to people who really understand and I dont have to lie or cover up.
So I take it that Bo thinks that if you KEEP drinking, that's what treats alcoholism.(?)
I am WAY too confused whenever he says something so moronic as that!!
If you are this type of person, for God's sake don't ever sponsor anyone. You might kill them with your misconception of of what it takes to treat alcoholism.
Just another reply without thought on your part.
AND, it's obvious you are FAR from recovering because you are so FULL of anger!!
That's what happens when some people are stuck in denial.
LOL!!!!
Of course you don't care about what Mr. Wilson had to say. You never had the addiction seriously enough to need his advice.
I will make a deal with you. Stop bragging about your dry-time and I will not hold you to a higher standard than new-comers.
