Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Sit him down sober and talk to him about your program and why you are trying to be better for not drinking. Tell him that you don’t judge his drinking, but please respect your decision.
Honesty is everything. It may get to the point you don’t invite your uncle any more or you don’t attend events he’s attending.
The only reason he is offended by your refusal is that it shines the spotlight on his excuse for drinking ("Everybody drinks/gets drunk") and highlights the fallacy of his argument.
One seldom gets someone drinking heavily...to hear anything other than what they want to hear.
Play with the kids. Help in the kitchen. Drive an older relative home. Find a reason to get called into work or otherwise leave early.
An extra shift at work, quiet night at home, AA meeting, or even a movie by yourself...is better than being the verbal punching bag of people who've got nothing better to talk about than why someone doesn't want to get as drunk as they do.
My suggestion for people you used to drink with, not believing not drinking is your future, is to refuse the drink, but then instead of trying to ignore them, or cut them out of your life, engage in them and help them, and start treating them like they are who they are and see if you can help. I've found most people who I used to drink with, who either belittle my sobriety now, or urge me to drink with them, sadly are battling their own misery, and usually just want someone to be around them or talk to them. They want someone to pay attention to them, they are probably lonely, confused, powerless, just like me.
If the people are too much, meaning they make my insides hurt with how they act or aren't helping me, I admit it and the pain it is causing me to God, and ask him for mercy, or for some solution, accepting there are some things I cannot change, and that includes people who either won't or can't support me no longer drinking that I used to drink with.
I also have found through much pain that I depend on others, and had depended on others entirely too much, often absolutely, when drinking. I was always using others to get another drink, or to drink more than I could afford, and just because I get sober, those people still remember, I did that, so if they feel the right moves are giving me a little shit, now that I am not going to use them anymore to get more than my share of stuff, I have to accept that might be their way of healing.
I got a lot of practice today, took all of your advice and us e it at a family get together today. I think the fam got the message today and thankfully eased up on the peer pressure
