Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
It's strange how the subconscious throws these things up. I gave up smoking about 15 years ago and still have the occasional dream about that, ditto with the drinking!
I hope you don't worry about the drinking dreams as they seem to happen to all of us from time to time.
To me these dreams mean that not only have we decided, consciously, to not drink but our subconscious is right in line with that decision.
i tried to quite drinking for about 4 years and never had a drinking dream. When I truly did get sober, i had a few drinking dreams that scared the heck out of me and I was so relieved to wake up sober.
I think this dream is a very good sign that you have truly stopped drinking.
i don't think your dream is the least bit boring :) i think it is very good that you shared this.
Just for the record, I'm not talking full on benders here....wine at night w kids in bed etc but I hated the compulsion/guilt cycle that I ended up in.
Well, thanks again....I find reading these replies and other people's posts to be really helpful.
Same thing happened when I recovered from my eating disorder. I had eating disordered dreams. Still do though I've been recovered for over 10 years.
My sponsor told me that she'd be concerned if I *didnt* have these dreams given how long I drank.
Isnt sobriety wonderful? No hangover, no free floating impending doom, no wondering what the heck happened, and no shame.
Being a sober mother is also the best gift you can ever give your children.
And not so much after kids Sticky....yes, being a sober mother feels awesome. Even when it was1 or 2 glasses a night I felt like I couldn't get them to bed fast enough so I could "relax"
Thanks both for replies:)
