Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I finally learned to take the message from it, which for me was that I did still have the disease and that I never wanted to have the relapse in waking life, but I was only a drink away from living that dream.
Though no-one who was new a struggling or those that did pick ever said it got better they all said it got a whole lot worse. My dreams were all similar somewhere in the dream i would pick up a drink and then i would start lying about it and all that stinking thinking would start because i would be lying and hiding it from my wife and children the people I worked with and those i new in AA.
And some times when i woke I felt hungover and wasn't sure if I had picked up a drink or not and it wasn't until later in the day when i realized I hadn't drank and went awwwwwwww thank God.
I personally believe for me those drinking dreams were Gods way of letting me pick up a drink/drunk and go through what would happen without actually picking up a drink because He knew what would happen to me if i did physically pick that drink/drunk. I say drink/drunk because i don't know if I ever pick up a drink I always picked up a drunk.
And yes it lets me know my disease is progressive while I am doing what I have to do to stay sober my disease is outside doing push ups . And it also tells me not only is my disease progressive so is my recovery from it. And that its no good for me to rest on my laurels I need to be active in recovery .i need to use all the tools that are available. The steps, the traditions, study the BB ,carry the message of recovery so on.
I am so grateful I haven't had to pick up a drink yet.
Thanks for your post and the other reply's I like to hear about others experiences. They are a great help to me.
God Bless...
