Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
For me quiting drinking has always been easy.
I was the type to stay dry for years to spite others, consequences from my drinking, 2 day hangovers all kinds of things made my temperorary decisions to not drink obtainable for a bit. When life got tough though, I always caved in.
Staying quit combined with serenity is the tricky part.
Why, because chemicals gave me the courage to face life on lifes terms.
Recently I was scared and ran to AA like a lil' baby and just hung out for a couple months. that comfort was all i had.
AA is always there waiting for us, showing us how to battle lifes ups and downs.
No chemicals needed.
On another note, Frankie, I always find it vaguely irritating when people turn up at AA everytime their life is difficult and then disappear when it all seems ok again. No staying around to help other people when they have tough times. Plus the expectation that AA will just be there when they need it but they dont have to make an effort to be there for when someone else needs it. Selfish in my book.
I go to know less than 2 meetings a week. Never miss my home group.
Pick up my 84 year old date, mow her yard, take her trash out and much more.
I was in a bad spot and needed to hang out somewhere safe.
I live in service, and not just people in AA.
Okay, whatever you think is okay with me.
So, I guess employing work release fellars and giving them rides to AA meetings, and trying to get them on their feet is quote;
"not being there for somebody that needs it"
okey dokey.
Dont think i have to do a ten on that one.
Bottom line, without AA I would definetly be dead or locked up for a very long time.
Like and respect ya a bunch chic!!!!!!!!!!!
For me, I never thought that I could go a day without alcohol. Then I began willing to do the work and was led through the 12 step program by my HP who put a sponsor in my way.
Today I still work that 12 step program to the best of my ability and have a daily reprieve.
Isn't it just amazing?
I hear ya loud and clear and am grateful every day for what I have freely been given :)
