Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

AA worked for me. I've been sober since my first meeting and more importantly, learned to live and enjoy a sober life a day at a time.
Try it.....or something else, you have everything to gain.
You can get through this - but in no way can you get through this alone. Detox (in a hospital so I was safe) and treatment got me on the road to wellness. I too am in AA and it's been what has done the trick for me. There are other methods out there too. The difference between where I am now and where I was like you described is massive, and it gets better all the time.
You don't have to live the way you are any more.
As far as the question reply #8 asked just my opinion it doesn't matter what it is alcohol or drugs in reality that's just a symptom to a bigger problem.
The way I see it addiction is something that's unhealthy and you can't stop doing it.
Hope you take some action.
Your profile picture is certainly a positive.
"Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose." ~ Bette Midler.
Drinking is a depressant, and also causes vitamin deficiencies, which also well affect the way that you feel.
You sound like you feel EXACTLY how I felt when I knew I needed to quite drinking.
I drove in blackouts (very dangerous) - I hated me - I could hardly stay in my own skin - I was always anxious - and full of self-doubt. It took me 4 years of relapsing to finally get it.
Where I finally got "it" was in AA. I just took myself to meetings, sat myself down and listened. At first I sat very near the back door so that I could escape having to talk to anyone. I just kept doing that day after day until I actually started enjoying the meetings and loving the people who were so kind to me.
I now have been sober for 33 years and if I can do it - so can you. I was a mess - and today, while I am nowhere near being perfect, I'm sure not a mess anymore. You really can change your life and it is easier than you can every imagine. Just sit yourself in meetings and see what happens.
Good luck hon. You sound like you really want to quit drinking and i hope you do. Take care.
