Hey, I can understand you're terribly upset about your son. I hope for the best outcome, that they can really help him at the hospital. good on you for not drinking, and for wanting to be a support to your son. All the best.

I wish for your son to get better. He's so lucky to have a sober father that can be there for him. I can't imagine what you must be going through. Taking him to the hospital is the best thing. One foot in front of the other. I'm assuming it's a psych hospital you're taking him to?

I have been there. I took him to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto. It's one of the best in the VA system. I don't know the official diagnosis. I believe Depressive Schizoid or Aspergers. I could be wrong.
I gave up trying to get him to go to work and left it to the pros after I tried everything possible that would work on a normal person. The psychiatrists have tried their best for years without success. He is not suicidal anymore thanks to the meds they give him. I do take care of him otherwise he would go homeless. I got a studio apartment for him, otherwise he would drive me crazy.

As with alcoholism, I found that when I accepted the problem without any "Why Me?" My life got better.

Good things tend to happen to those who stay sober so hoping for the best and keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

I can't explain it but I have been there, the feelings just get to be so great and there seems to be no alternative.Usually it boils down to the need for attention. And there is no better way to get lots of attention than suicide. Let him know you care and love him. Let him know there is, I'm also a lot more even keeled with a med called lex apro. It keeps my system on an even plane.
