Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
sober -- not intoxicated
recovered -- at peace and comfortable in sobriety (to paraphrase what you said)
There are a few things that I disagree with in post #40, but the intent of what is said rings true for me.
Thats a given, Antonia, that is, unless Im the only person on earth ;-) or Im a hermit. The way I treat myself, is generally the way Ill treat others.
The 12 Steps are based on relationships with 1.God, if one has faith, 2. Ones self, 3. Others, 4. Institutions e.g. government, civic, etc. and 5. Situations e.g. driving a motor vehicle, sharing the highways.
Thanks for chiming in. You write.experience is not a opinion its factual I'm suprised you would say that you have lost me with that comment Icon
Im assuming you wouldnt be surprised if you kept what I wrote in context. As an example In my extended family there are MDs, thus as a layman Im somewhat educated in medicine. I always go to the very best doctors here in Seattle or Boston, but, I get more than one opinion. Many board certified surgeons in the USA have experience, some a lot of experience, other wise they wouldnt be board certified. Yet, not all these MDs agree on procedure, therefore there is NO FACT, theres just opinion and preference.
The AA founders had different experiences with recovery, some had a faith based recovery, while others didnt, yet all recovered. Its all opinion, because its all subjective, its that simple!
