Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Who experienced this phase and what was it like for you, I went through it this week and it was one of my darkest moments where everything seem dull and numb. Like life had no meaning and the feeling of hopelessness.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

These were generated by guilt that I held on to over the years and the guilt was caused by me being too hard on myself, I would try to medicate it with drugs or alcohol but when I got sober, for good....I couldn't do that anymore and eventually those feelings I had denied, finally came to the surface after I buried them for so many years.
The only way I got rid of it was to just forgive myself, It surprised me that that was all it took! The bad feelings went away and I stopped having nightmares.
It sounds like you had a rough time but keep in mind, the dark nights don't last forever.
Hope that helps.

What I do is to try to expand my friends network by reaching out my hand to someone else.
Self esteem is the root of this feeling of hopelessness.
Do a good act today... hold the door open for someone at the grocery, complement somebody. Get out of yourself. A good deed makes you feel appreciated
The alcoholism was a result of many negative choices and behaviors , change you and you will get better. I promise

The best medicine is going to a support group, finding a mentor and going thru the steps but here is what the outline is for getting to a better place
- admit that alcohol was not the solution
- decide to take action to change self so alcohol is not needed
- define the traits ( character defects ) that we have ( my main CD were fear, guilt, and envy), until this point in my life I never knew WHAT the problem was!!!
- ask for some help from a higher power ( god , oden, the universe , choose one ) to take these defects and remove them
- find anybody that we hurt along the way and say we are sorry to have caused hurt
- continue to identify any character defects ( envy, hate , greed ) and seek to remove them from myself
- help others
Live a good life

Look at other options such as relaxation music, going for regular walks, treating yourself with kindness.
and agree with Bob, if the headaches continue, see your doctor, as there could be something bigger going on that may need medical attention.
There is a grief associated with giving up alcohol, and the guilt and shame when you remember all the things you have done through drinking, people you have hurt, the emotions intensify, but you get through it one day at a time.
Eventually, life just goes on and a different world opens up, just keep pushing through and keep talking about it here, I promise, it does get so much better & you will find the person you were before alcohol took over.
Beware of isolation because that leads back in the bottle
Do you have some close friends you can talk, laugh, cry etc.
We are social creatures and sometimes without the booze have a feeling of fear to relate and interact. Life is out there waiting, You gotta go get it
