Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
But it is much better then craving alcohol. To some people, I heard, it helped to overcome their craving for alcohol.
Alcohol first of all is a poison. Eating ice-cream - well, who doesn't like ice-cream? Are you allergic to ice-cream? Or are you an alcoholic, allergic to alcohol?
As you very well know there are many ways of losing weight. If you managed to give up alcohol, you can manage to eat a bit less sweets, or eat sweets with no sugar in it. Exercise. Walk.
Congratulation on your approaching 6 months!
Isn't it sweet that you are sober? Be kind to yourself and don't feel too bad after eating the ice cream.
Either way I focused on sobriety and was ok with treats.
I'm now about to have 2 years, god willing, and still love my sweets!
For me, though, I started taking sugar to a level that I associated with booze in my drinking days. I was starting to hide wrappers, binge, lie about my consumption, obsessed about excess sugar, gained weight, and ate it emotionally...all in sobriety. So about 2 1/2 months ago I cut it out completely. I get cravings, yes, but I feel healthier, have lost about 20 lbs, and have great energy.
Sugar is toxic to our bodies...but it is seen as a much lesser evil compared to alcohol. But sugar hits the same pleasure spots heroin and cocaine do in the brain, and it does lead to health problems, especially in excess. Hidden sugars hurt us as much as any candy. Anyway, I won't bore you with details...Google it and you will see what sugar can do and does do to one's overall health. I stick with fruit these days :)
Congrats on your sober time!
What recovery programme are you using (if any)?
