Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
What I didn't lose was my life.
I didn't lose my husband.
I did not lose my home.
I reluctantly went to AA after a year of trying other things. I got a sponsor. I spoke up when other members starting to recount the days of "glory" when they drank. I made sure they knew that my days were of physical, emotional and spiritual misery. If I am at a meeting where someone starts in on how the loved the drink, I get up and hit the restroom or even leave if I need to.
The point for me is that I am willing to to whatever it takes- to go to any length - to maintain my sobriety. I have 74 days of sobriety today. Life is way better now even though I still have consequences ahead of me as a result of my last binge (car wrecked, license revoked, court dates ahead). But I have my health again and my close relationships are better and I am grateful that I was finally willing to go to any lengths.
I wish you peace.
Peg
She's willing to do whatever it takes to stay sober. So, question is are you? have you tried AA?
Go to a meeting. Share, get a sponsor who has worked all 12 steps and has recovered, do what she asks you to do. Do what is in the book.
You can recover. I did. If I can, with nothing but the willingness to try, then certainly you can too.
Till then you won't be able to take care of your kids in the way they deserve, and you certainly can't take care of yourself.
i am working the steps with my addiction counselor (who is also in recovery) until I am ready to get back to meetings.
i havent lost my home - yet.
i havent lost my husband - yet.
i havent lost my kids - yet.
i havent lost my life - yet.
i dont want to lose anything else, especially the 4 i listed above.
