Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Typically how long do the physical symptoms of withdrawal last? Day 2 and shaking like a leaf. I need some idea so I can determine if im shaking from withdrwl or anxiety. I still believe it's anxiety
AnneL
I'm going to guess withdrawal. Anxiety is also a symptom but so are the 'shakes'. Is someone checking on you to make sure you're OK. Or at least if you didn't feel right do you feel OK calling 911? Many people go cold turkey but some people need medical assistance. Drink a LOT of water. B vitamins help. Magnesium around 400-800 mg. Vitamin C about 3-5000 mg. These help calm the nervous system. Do you have fruit like oranges or orange juice around. The sugar in these things will help. I'm not a doctor so I can only share what I know and what I did which were the things I listed above. If you're not sure don't hesitate to see a doctor pronto.

3-5 days is the worst of it Other than that, I agree with what Anne said. Stay away from caffeine.
AnneL
Yes, stay away from caffeine. Absolutely. It will agitate your nervous system further. The physical withdrawal is short. It the things we go through mentally and psychologically that are the hardest. Also the body will be healing as will brain receptors so don't be surprised if things feel more difficult. It's important to have support. Best to you. This will pass. Congratulations on your 2nd day.

So If the alcohol withdrawal is causing me to shake, it should stop in 3-5 days?

It's not cut & dry Wease- it varies by person. But as a general rule the worst of it is over in 3-5. There may still be some lingering effects for a period of time afterward, but it should improve.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
