Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I am having a hard time dealing with my depression over our bleak finances. Credit cards are maxed, little money in bank, and i don't have anything to put under a tree if we even get one. My son wants a Heng Long King Tiger tank with metal tracks that run about $300. I thought we'd pull a rabbit out of our hat and find a way but it is not looking good. I am a month and a week sober, but part of me wants to escape from the sad reality that this Christmas will not be happening for us.
We had saved for a down payment for a house and bought a truck this July. It is a turbo diesel and took everything we had to get $4000 in repairs to run ok for a month. Now coolant disappears daily, and fuel injectors are bad, and we are looking at $5000 in work given just the injectors are $2000 for a F250.
It was such a bad decision, and my husband delivers food right now in his 40s so a broken vehicle sucks.
I am here, in the dark, crying over the impossible climb we need to make to even get a fraction of our investment back on this dumb truck. This truck money was going to secure us a real home, and now it is all gone and the truck won't run despite our loss.
I am angry that this is us every Christmas. Every Christmas we are struggling, and it's always "next year" will be better. I feel like we're cursed to always be the losers. I don't know what to tell my son about our situation. I financed a gift for my other son, and we won't be getting anything for ourselves. Sadly I don't usually get a gift.
Sorry for the downer. I am grateful we have my car with 250000 miles on it but running, we have a roof over our head.. I am grateful for the health of my loved ones especially. I just wish the universe would throw us a bone now and then instead of sabotaging every move made to lift ourselves out of poverty.
This mood got hold of me yesterday and it was the first day I really considered throwing my hands up buying some wine. I'm glad i pushed through, but am finding it hard to get in any holiday "spirit"..

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The best present you can give is you presence. That’s real.
I’m sorry about the money stress, that’s hard. I had to do the injectors in my Ford a few years ago and it was expensive.
I used to spend about 12 $ a day on alcohol. After three years it has helped my budget immensely. Quit drinking coffee and it’s amazing how much I was spending on that too. Not to mention all the trash the cups were making.
Hang in there Pink, hug your kids and yourself and get through the winter.
I finally figured out that the world doesn't work. I couldn't get ahead no matter how hard I tried. The reason being, it's not designed to work.
So I knoe exactly where you are coming from. The only difference between us was when I through my hands in the air, I told my Higher Power, "That's it, I'm done! You take control now! I just can't do it anymore!" From that point on, things began to happen and they were many! Way too many to call coincidence.......I had money coming from places I never expected, I got a new job which I really liked, and my relationships improved, to namea few.
Now I am happy, comfortable, and am no longer a slave to a company that could care less about me. All I had to do for it all was just ask.....
God Bless
Alcohol is the fuel that burns it all down.
It’s been 7 years and I am still paying off debt I collected. But I’m paying it off slowly.
What do you do for work? The important thing is to own it and do something about it. Computing how much and how many , will do this and that is a bad move. Take it one bite at a time.
The truth is I spent 25-30 dollars a day on booze. So I would be 273,000 to the plus if I didn’t do all that boozing. It’s a fact and I admit it was my doing , (and alcohols...)
Not to mention the jobs I lost and time I was wasted. So if I didn’t drink I honestly believe I could have a million dollars now, but no my choice fuc me and now I’m paying
Sit there and get sad, remorseful, and that’s the recipe booze wants to make you drink. F that. Go to a meeting, find other alcoholics, get sober and then all the other parts of life come back.
Booze will only hide the reality until it doesn’t and all crashes down.
