Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

A true friend would be happy your bettering yourself. The rest of those people are all gossip buddies and bar flies.
If a co worker came up to me and I was STILL DRINKING and they said something like "btw, u don't seem happy I quit drinking", i think i would look at them funny and probably gossip to other coworkers that I could careless and think what is this persons problem...
Some saw my journey and found their truth in my story hard to reconcile with dropped off so they did not have to face their truth.
SG for me what is paramount is what is important to me, and that is my loved ones. If I am doing something to better myself my loved ones support and encourage me.
Others who want to bring me down is normally a reflection of their own fears.
Wish you well G8
Your friend might not be ready to face her own drinking problem. She might be worried that if you don't drink together you won't have as much in common.
it's a big change when we finally stop drinking. Not just for us but for those who are close it us, and it can be a difficult adjustment for some. Sometimes it is too much and friendships drift apart.
I have one lifetime friend that I will always be close to and each time I see him I actually feel guilty. He stumbles and produces a lot of beer bottles. I found the most surprising things he will say like, I have to go make a deposit at the bank when we both know he's going out to buy beer. He just can't help it he's sick.
I am greatful I am not in the hooks of the booze

She's brought it up a few times since then and told me she cut back but the other night when we were talking, I could tell she was drinking. I just casually told her that it had been nearly a year since I'd had a drink.
Anyway, she and I are both home during the day and we never get together. The same with my sister, who could give or take booze. I don't know if they are awkward about drinking or don't think I have any money.
Quitting drinking has shown me who my true friends are; the ones that made a point to stay in my life and support me are amazing and my friendships with them have only evolved and strengthened.
Sometimes people get nervous or unsure of what to do or say when a friend decides to get sober. They are afraid of saying or doing something that will be provocative.
This individual said something to you in a moment about not drinking. They have likely decided to continue. Your being sober is a reminder.
