Maybe another forum would help?
I would urge you to talk to your doctor about this as nobody here can give you medical advice.
There are a couple of possible causes that I am aware of from my own experience but I have no medical knowledge. From what you have described it could be that you are suffering from a very common condition called sleep apnea but this is only a guess. With sleep apnea you stop breathing for short periods during sleep. Once the breathing stops your brain gets the message that something is wrong and wakes you up. Your breathing then returns to normal and you fall asleep again. This can continue all through the night and sometimes you wont even realize that you woke up. The result is that you dont get proper sleep and are likely to wake up exhausted. Sometimes you may feel fine when you wake but will keep falling asleep during the day. This is a condition that should not be ignored as it can lead to serious consequences. However, as I said it is quite common and doctors now pay more attention to it than they did years ago. There is no easy cure but there are effective treatments. The first thing that the doctor may do is to get you wired up for a sleep study. In the past this would have involved spending a night in a special sleep lab but that has changed and it can now be done in your own home as you try to sleep.
The sleep study will confirm whether or not you have sleep apnea. If you do not have this condition, another possible cause is blocked sinuses. Your breathing may seem normal during the day but once you lie down there is extra effort required because of the sinus blockage and this puts pressure on your lungs.
The only thing I can tell you for certain is that it makes no sense to worry yourself sick over something that may be easily treated. Go to the doctor and put your mind at ease.
hopefully he goes soon as I hate sleeping on the couch; he's such a snore monster and it pisses me off!!!
