Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Not at all makin light gjm, I was in a pissy mood yesterday and made myself crazy trying to figure out WHY. Guess we just have "off" days huh?
It is what it is.
Hope your having a good weekend!
What is irritating to some may not be irritating to others.
I for one know that the sound of someone clipping their toenails irrates the hell outta me, but it obviously doesn't bother some, especially the one doing the clipping - and yes - the sound clipping my own toe nails bothers me too - lol
If someone is abusive to me it does not irritate me because i am also abusive. Some people are just out of line. I was destroyed and pissed about 9?11 but that doesn't make me a terrorist. deep thought though.
Yes I have been to months of anger management class and i do handle my anger very well - I can not control this but it doesn't mean i can't be passionately POED about it - so long as I don't allow it to consume me and put in me in an angered stated to where i am POED at everyone and everything - I am good - lol.
I can still barely talk about 9/11 - that sends me into spiral mode!
Peace!
"We often find that the very thing that irritates us....." Again the word 'often' not always.
"When someone's whining bugs us, maybe it is our own capacity for whining...." Keyword here is 'maybe' not definately but maybe.
For me the importance of what Jung says is that before I cast stones at others I have a good look at myself to make sure I do not have the same behaviour.

Things that "shouldn't " be happening because they seem too violent, disgusting, repulsive or threatening tend to bring up difficult thoughts and emotions. What happens in the world probably brings up stuff in us that we would rather not think of or have to feel the related emotions.
Instead of seeing that there are feelings coming up inside, I think most people would rather just project their feelings onto the assumed object of contention, or the person who seems to be the cause of the irritation.
Instead of being able to be present with the feelings of irritation, the mind suppresses and projects the feelings. In doing so, the mind splits itself off from the feeling within and itself.
You are now two people-the mind and the supressed feelings. Stuffed deep down inside, these feelings don't see the light of day until the next incident or disgusting person-then, anger can reappear once again.
The remedy to all this is to be able to sit with your irritation and allow it to be.
