It strikes me that perhaps part of this sober journey is about descivness. If you start a thread you should not be able to request it's closing. Not picking on anyone, many have done it.
As for the "pill haters" in AA. I've seen them almost ruin lives. Next time you hear one see how much they really mean it. Say "And what about your blood pressure pills, your insulin or your birth control?" Are you willing to quit taking those because you're sober?

Look at the thread I just posted about a book that I found useful. I REALLY didn't intend for that thread to go ANYWHERE close to where it is at now. My motive was to share and be helpful. But it blew up.

Not to long ago I had some request a thread be closed and I didn't as I thought things said needed to be heard and I was chastised for letting it stay open. Now I close one at the request of the author and am chastised for it.

I'm so confused. (not realy)

I am not chastising you. Just don't know how an innocent thread gets blown up. I appreciate that you closed the other thread at my request. But, a lot of times, I don't want to inflame anyone; just raise awareness.

Jim-I know you have a hard job and I do not mean to come down on you. More addressing the idea of control in general.

I believe that once the person has posted it and people respond-it is everyone's post. So think before you post people. I have posted things and gotten negative responses. I then often wish I could take it back. But that is not how these forums should work. Once it it is out there-unless you posted damning stuff about yourself-you need to let it go. The forum moderator should not have to be contacted by all of us control freaks to close threads we regret.

You shouldn't close your own thread for the purpose that you don't agree with the direction the thread has taken or you have got your message across and enough said on the matter.However, if it's abusive, inappropriate and in breach of DS TOS or Rules of Road, then closure may be warranted by CL/DS.

Remember when you post, it's done, your words, so own them, closed thread or not.Respect and appreciate why the group is here, for alcoholism support. It takes more than one members reply to take a post off course.
