lol! right on, brother. those of us who do not frequent comfy suburban aa "clubs" see death on an weekly basis. we work with the "they lost it all" crowd the bb talks about. please--before you open your mouths about medicating mental illness (besides your own "substance abuse"which is a dsm also) take it open yourself to truly help others through understanding and education.

i agree. this is important to the survival of our brothers and sisters. do not close a thread because it has become uncomfortable. i don't know about any of you but dt's, seizures, and overdoses did not fit the comfort variety for me. those of us who still suffer our pasts and fear for our futures deserve a voice on this forum.

I think you should have the right to request closure of your own thread, if you believe it has turned into something negative.....especially if it's beginning to hurt others or cause silly fights In the grand scheme of things, very few threads are closed.

We have the right also just not to answer the thread and just let it pass.By answering a tread that stupit just makes you as stupit as the person that posted it.Just let it go away.

IMO some threads are meant to inflame others when wasted others out of ignorance. Do we let them continue? I've heard all sides of every arguement. Do, don't whatever. I have certain rules and have let some slip myself. If I had left it open someone would have complained about that. It is what it is. FYI I've been informed help is on the way.

The problem will always be that you cant please all of the people all of the time and what is acceptable to one is not to another.

Always there is tension between freedom and control.

What is better, set rules - ie you can never request closure of your own post - so that everyone knows where they are, or, room for discretion so that each situation can be looked at with discernment?

Remember - Jim as CL only responds to the actions of the group, it isn't him who regulates the group it is the group itself in the main.

Jim, I'm just saying that we could make a rule that says you can't close your own thread. If no such rule is in place then you were doing your job, such a rule might make that job easier.

i see your point but i guess i am inflamed by seeing a 24 year old boy hanging from a shower rod (bipolar-no meds due to an idiot sponsor) who left a loving wife and 18 month old babygirl behind. i mentioned i was there and my own sponsor but his father was there too. do we compromise our feelings on an "as if". or do we not censor the truth of the brutality of wrongheaded decisions that cause death even, even, in our own program. we need to change. i want to be a conduit for this to happen.

that boy, i gave rides to him. reunited him with his child but he is dead nonetheless. and that makes me angry enough to fight on this point. for him and all the others dead through incomprehensible ignorance.

I was surprised to see this thread closed about pills. It seemed some folks did not like Wayne and saw him as aggravating-but the responses were really interesting and people where overall not enraged? Why can't we speak about prescription medication? If it upsets some of you, then don't read the thread! If you can engage in debate and stay on a level of no name calling-just sticking to your experience and ideas, staying level headed, what is the problem?

I find it very upsetting that this group has decided that this topic is so sad and off putting. Not to me! Maybe I need to talk about this in recovery.

What next, what else is off limits? Last time I checked-it said we have to be nice when posting, and hopefully stick to the subject.

Doesn't have to be so vanilla and bland, I think we do have the ability to discuss what medication we ingest in our bodies.
