Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
For me I needed a power greater than myself to rely on to take away that craving, and a program to keep me in touch with that power.
I have to trust my HP, clean house, and help others.
How do I do that? I do it a day at a time through AA.
there are many programs out there --- the one that won't work is the same old same old.
So pick one and surrender.
You do not specify what your addiction is but if it is alcohol it is probable that you will need help in order to deal with it.
You are caught in a circle of using, feeling guilty, trying to stop and using again when you fail. When you are on the inside of that trap it looks pretty hopeless and you cant see any way out. However, the door to freedom is easy to open once someone turns the key from the outside. Go to a meeting and find a way to open that door.
Dont wait until next week or tomorrow but reach out for help now.
What your saying here is the same dilemma most of us been there but make a decision to do something about it.
Acceptance and wiliness is key but without action on your part those two things don't matter much.
Thank you for sharing.
The ironic thing, in your post you say about 'I just thought I'd use a little to have a little comfort before I start my day' and that has me thinking you maybe do not quite yet understand addiction as you say about using a 'little'.
Why do I say this? Well, when I first got help, I thought it was drink 6 that got me drunk, I didn't realise my physical allergy started as soon as I took the first mouthful. It took me to learn about my disease in order to understand why I kept getting drunk (sound familar?).
Whatever your addiction is, there is help available when you want it. For me, my way was AA and I am so glad for walking to those rooms and sitting my bottom on a seat and listening to what was going on.
