Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
IMO,there is a big difference between me referring to the fact that my borderline personality disorder gives me extra challenges in terms of dealing with my anxiety and fear and that it has to play a part in me taking inventory and me sharing for 25 minutes on what it is like to have borderline personality.
Some of the best chairs I have heard in AA were from people who are also cocaine addicts. When they speak in AA they often refer to the fact that they are also cocaine addicts and maybe some info about how that played into their alcoholism. But the main focus of their chair in terms of their disease is in relation to alcoholism. The same people when I have heard them share in CA often mention their alcoholism but their main focus is on cocaine.
Talking about our drinking or drugging is about unity through common problem and identification, the destruction of denial and delusion. That is why focus is on a different unifying factor depending on which fellowship you are in. It is also about respect of the traditions of the fellowship that you are sitting in.
