Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
DT this is your big bugbear and we will never agree on this stuff, but the whole point of my post on the original thread was in response not to her first post but to the one that wants this to be all things to all people.
If the members here want it to be so, then perhaps we should change it's name to something other than an alcoholism support group. Other places exist boards that deal with marijuana, so why come here?? It's senseless.
I am an alcoholic. How the hell could I help a pot smoker? It would be an injustice to the pot smoker.
As Rick pointed out, there is a DS site specifically for marijuana.
Or, you could start another group for MJ. How about that?
Tread-go over to the cocaine addiction board and tell them that you're an alcoholic and ask them for advice.
Betcha a million dollars, they direct you to the alcoholism board.
Why you makin a big deal? Jeez!
One of the core elements of recovery is identification with a common problem which can lead to identification and hope in a common solution. It is really important.
I was a take it or leave it pot smoker, what self respecting addict whose life is being destroyed by pot is going to think I understand their plight and have a solution relevant to them?
I can honestly say that I didn't respond well to people whosaid I don't have a problem with alcohol but what you should do is ....!!
A clean addict may be another story - I can relate to one the things I did to take my mind off my dis-ease. Using the 12 steps as they are related.
This is a judgement call that each of us has to individually make according to our level of experience and what our spiritual sense tells us. As nobody can call us an alcoholic, the call to conscience is for each of us to answer...

I remember going to an aa meeting and them throwing an addict out. I was dumb founded. I later understood why. first it was a closed AA meeting for alcholics only, and second they stood by their rules. ONLY ALCHOLICS. Now if you are an addict who attends AA speak the language, and learn to identify, alcholics get sober, and addicts get clean! real simple. Dr, Bob and the boys were fall down drunks, Bill Wilson and the Boys were hardcore addicts, herion at that. they understood the difference, and the bias they recieved when they tried to recover in the AA rooms. The alcholics could not identify with them, so they left.
addicts are imposing themselves into the AA rooms, and when they are redirected they become infuriated.this is because self centeredness is the core of their disease, and they do not understand their intrusion. Treatment facilities contribute to this illusion because they do not full understand. addicts in the rooms on NA are a harsh bunch of individuals, they put the truth on the line you are a menace to society and this is how you get better. Not tooo many people can handle that truth, but these are the same individuals that will steal your purse and help you look for it to get he next one.
Take your ass to the place that can help you , and stop reaking havoc on individuals that do not understand you putting a spike in your arm, or pulling on a pipe to obtain an euphoric feeling.
Just some thoughts

Why don't we post a pretest and application that way we can screen out those that don't pass the test. I was going to stay out of this. I can't. I mentioned the other day to a friend how pissed I was at the namby pamby whiners but I have to tell you the hard core make me just as angry. Please note I am not angry for myself and what i want. I am angry because of the hurt this type of attitude can and does inflict on the newcomer. I am so grateful that the AAers I knew and know allowed me to weigh out the information and make an informed decision.
