Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I actually said at a meeting "I was cured" after the compulsion had left and I hadn't had a drink in 6 months. But then some stuff came down the pike that I used to drink over and I wanted to drink...
If you think you can stay sober without it. That's Great.. But remember we are here if you need us and we don't shoot our wounded. Be honest with your sponsor.
AA doesn't have all the answers I need in life but if I let up on the AA program and drink again all bets are off.
I love A.A. but I don't like the religious aspect of it.
I just want to thank you for this thread and I agree with everyone.
AA is not for everybody and there are options. I know of people who happy without going to meetings. I used to go as much as I can when I first stopped drinking. When I relapsed or slipped, I realized that the only way I am going to stay sober is to do it my way.
My way has changed over the years with the internet.
Do whatever works for you.
