Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Love y gurl
15 years here doing one day at a time.
When I quit drinking, I ate alot of chocolate, and believe me it really did help me. Plus I kept busy doing anything i could think of, even if it was doing crossword puzzles. LOL I'd clean my house, scrub floors, you name it. Just keep busy. I know at your age, it doesn't sound very exciting, but you've got to be doing something.
And if you can, get to a meeting. I went to 90 meetings in 90 days, and actually it was more because sometimes I went to 2 meetings in a day. That's the only way I could get sober.
It's easy if you want it. You've just got to do some "work" to get it. Hugs, Lee
I bet all of us older folk WISH someone could have helped us to stop back then, so we didn't have to go through the hell we went through before we "slipped into sobriety".
Seek some help...for you and your boyfriend. AA is a great idea, it saved my life...and don't wait to be court ordered to the program, due to a DUI or the likes either, because it hurts worse that way.
Peace and good luck.
The bad news is that a lot of alcoholism is mental so if you are an alcoholic there is still a lot to deal with to stay sober. Your mind is used to alcohol to cope with stress and life in general so it is calling out for alcohol to help to it cope.
The best way to stay sober is to find other ways to cope with life so that we dont keep thinking that the way to do it is to drink.
You might want to go to an AA meeting, that is what I did and it was the best thing I ever did.
In AA you will be able to find out what alcoholism is, decide for your self whether you have it, find out what the solution to it is and then to decide if you want that solution.
The solution in AA was the only thing I found to get rid of the obsession for alcohol so it may well work for you too.
