Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

My body feels like it's been left in the rain for a decade and weeds are growing through the splits.
I have noticed that i am more in tune to all my creeky and organ-punched episodes as i wade through my sobriety. In the past, it felt like the shoe didn't really drop until months in. OMG! Is that my liver drawing so much attention?? What has happened to my guts?
I take Milk Thistle, because i believe in magic potions. I want to fix what damage has been done but still eat copious amounts of factory candies like sour snake gummies and obscene amounts of chocolate. Is there a potion for that?
I have a book my grandmother gave me on sobriety, which was years ago, and one practice it recommends is breaking a sweat every day. I need to chase the rats, clear the cobwebs from this decaying frame. I need a tune up, an alignment, a new stereo?? I will tune in to the higher self, the deeper, healing vibration of self-love. Do i love myself? I certainly know how to punish.
I made burgers for everyone yesterday while husband and I had sockeye salmon and wild rice. We were both jealous of the other meals, though our bodies were grateful. It can be tricky to please the appetites of children while also wanting to eat freaky things like fish.
I think I am ready to get serious about my self care. Treat my body as less an afterthought of the vessel that carries my depraved brain around, but the temple that is my fortune to walk the world in.
She has been through enough.
I am weighed down by my addiction. I am weighed down by my burdens and pains. I will lose weight, stop letting the drag hold me back.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Don't call your self depraved or any other negative words. The mind is very powerful, and will create that. Look at yourself in the mirror every morning when you get out of bed... Picture yourself the way you would like to be but don't judge it in any way and put two words in front of each asset....."I AM'
Try to get to the root of why you think you need a drink or a box of chocolates, by asking yourself why you feel this way. You will get an answer. Taking a deep breath whenever yu are feeling stressed, works wonders.
God Bless
I was lucky to have my partner on board with the health changes. She had to lose about 25 lbs to her goal weight. She did a 6 month diet with high protein (vegetarian) low carbs and sugar and lots of water. 6 portioned meals/day worked well for her.
I like to do all the various tasks during the day with keeping good posture. When this habit is reinforced with practice you just feel better. Waiting for a pot to boil? touch your toes and reach for the ceiling a dozen times. Going up stairs? Picture yourself gracefully gliding up. Brushing teeth I practice posture while doing kegals (not just for women). It's a different mindset when we decide to live a healthier lifestyle. To be honest it's become a bit of a hobby.
Like with any new habit it just takes daily reinforcement. Change happens when I've had enough of something. That's been a huge lesson for me to find the motivation to change. When I ask myself if I want the same pattern or will I allow something to shift?
For the first year I became a Cookie Monster. Couldn't help myself. With a lot of will I reigned it in. In fact I think the body is so used to the sugar intake with alcohol that a few treats help with cravings. So I wouldn't cut out the chocolate just yet. Wean off slowly when you feel secure.
Be patient and gentle with yourself. Like you said, she's been through enough.
