bladder infection? ..detox

I have been trying to detox on my own since Sunday using klonopin to help with withdrawal. After visiting rehab clinic for an assessment, it was recommended that I do an inpatient detox. They gave me the option of detoxing on my own and coming back in a week for a re-eval. My last klonopin was about 13 hours ago and I am beginning to feel as though I have a bladder infection or UTI (VERY painful too pee). This happend when I went without klonopin on Monday as well. The pain went away when I got back on the klonopin.

I MUST get off the klonopin for a week to be re-eval's. I am past the shakes or any other withdrawal that I can see. I feel pretty good.

Has anyone had this happen when coming off a binge and then klonopin? What to do? I have called my Dr to if there is an antibiotic or something. (Ouch!)

All I know with my limited knowledge of these things is that we see people who need to detox from alcohol as well as seeing people who need to detox off of Klonopin at the detox I work at. Klonopin, as a benzodiazapene can be something that requires detox as well depending of course on the circumstances, dosage, last usage, and frequency of use. I would concur with the recommendation to do an inpt detox as detoxing off of alcohol as well as alcohol in conjunction with klonopin can be a pretty serious affair. Good luck.

I already talked to you, but in case you forget....Don't Wait For The Pain To Get Too BAD! Get to the doc if it doesn't let up or gets worse! That's an order...because I care. (o;

Rapid withdrawal from Benzos can cause nasty side effects, and can be made worse with the stress related to lack of information about the symptoms associated with it. I too would encourage you to have inpatient detox where you are cared for in a safe environment. Do what you need to, we won't be far away. :}

if you're having pain when you urinate, that needs to be addressed. Are you having pain in your lower back?. Does it burn or hurt when you pee?

At detox centers, a patient usually requires medical clearance from an MD prior to admission. They may have one on board at the center you go to. I would suggest not waiting as this could lead to a kidney infection. See a doctor one way or another.

BTW, I'm an RN who worked in a detox hospital for a long time. I don't recall any patient ever complaining of pain on urination from benzo withdrawal. Good Luck

Thx all. I got a hold of my dr. She Rx'd pyridium which is just for pain assoc to a bladder infection. I think this is just coincidenc to my stopping the klonpin. Apparently the klonopin was masking symptoms of a preexisting infection. No other evident withdrawal symps... Just VERY tired, a little off balance, and some chills. I really feel pretty good. I think I can do this. Thanks again!
