Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

After reading BS's post about the thread about holiday booze, I started to think about the power of my belief system.
My personal belief was not to want tattoos on my body it has always been how I seen tattoos and what they represented. Remember this is my personal belief.
When I was diagnosed with bowel cancer part of the treatment was radiation. For them to have the best result of the radiation they needed a reference point on my body so they can line up the same spot. To do this they put several tattoo dots on the skin over the spine.
When the Doc first said to me he was going to tattoo me I said no, initially he did not acknowledge I said no and kept explaining to me. I leaned over tapped him in the knee and said did you not hear me I am not allowing you to tattoo me.
So here I was in a quandrum my belief was no tattoos but my Doc saying best result is to give you a tattoo. My belief strong enough to forgo all the best advice to up hold my belief.
So I guess if my belief was so powerful in this instance, no wonder how powerful when it comes to other situations arise that is purely based on my belief systems.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I am just saying....and as a junior high school art student we tried to tattoo ourselves with the compass and indian ink...mine did not take...glad now
He was adamant the only safe and best practice was several dots on my skin that lock like freckles. Real quandary for me.

My advice for you is to reframe the essential medical markings for your needed & necessary medical treatment. They are no longer tattoos in the literal artistic sense. Rather they are visual benchmarks on your way through treatment to full recovery.
Someone once said, people dont start Wars its peoples Beliefs that do:(( They used to talk to us sideways where I got sober because we or I was in such denial that a sideways comment about what i was going through got my attention and got me thinking.....(like playing charades) than always having to be brutally honest. We called them zingers..because it felt like a 2x4 had hit me up side the head and then my brain would have to try and understand what they meant by what they had just said to me:))))))

O1 that is what I was getting at how I can follow my beliefs even to the deterrent of my health and wellbeing. I wonder how many times I have or will hurt myself because of my beliefs when if I stopped and looked at why I was doing something and assess did I need to change or modify my belief.

We see others exercise their belief system in wonderfully constructive and horribly destructive ways. From philanthropy, random acts of kindness through to terrorism. All that behaviour stems from belief systems.
