Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
It's one thing to choose to have an N/A beer (which is still .05% BTW lol), but when I don't know it's in there...it's just...odd...ya' know?
My comment would be on the near beer thing, since you have became more honest.
My near bear experience was the beginning of me losing 3 more years of my life.
Long story short; Casino and an o'doul and my wife. My mind figured out that HA, I have liquor breath. Called my buddy and had him sneak me in a pint captain Morgan. Bathroom double shots every 30 minutes. Ending up at the end of the night fighting and doing these lager bombs or something like that at my main old drinking buddies.
Dry three years before that debacle.
Hugs
Never thought about alcohol in fruit juice....I know it's in mouth wash, which I NEVER thought/think about drinking...and I continue to use it...have to...BAD GUMS!!
As far as the near beer, again, I may have had a dozen since I quit 2 1/2 years ago, and so far, by the grace of my higher power, I don't want to actually drink. I even bar tend on occasion and for me, that is just a reminder of who I used to be, and I NEVER want to be THAT girl again.
Thanks again for all your support.
I never drank BBG sauce to intentionally get drunk, so alcolhol in food doesn't bother me. Although I was a huge beer and wine drinker, I cook with beer and wines on occasion with no ill effects, because I didn't intentionally get drunk on the end result. However, it does trip me out a bit to be in the beer/wine aisle in the grocery store, buying wine or beer.
I never drank Nyquil intentionally to get drunk, so I have no problem using Nyquil as presribed when I'm sick, maybe once or twice a year.
However, I did drink a bottle of Scope mouthwash with the intention to get drunk. That landed me in the ER getting my stomach pumped for alcohol poisoning. To this day, I use mouthwash VERY rarely, and when I do, I feel an uncomfortable feeling, like I am still somehow getting a vicarious alcoholic thrill out of using mouthwash.
I think it all depends on one's frame of reference. I stay away for mouthwash because I did once use it to get drunk, but using other products with alcolhol as intended, or using alcohol itself in cooking doesn't bother me at all.
I am not suggesting that this applies to all recovered alcoholics, or newcomers. It took me several years in recovery to get to this point in my sobriety.
