please be kind to your liver, I've just spent a horrible 10 years with cirrohosis, and hep c. the damage from drinking made it horrible to try and fight off the hep c, I was waiting to die until the harvoni came along. Thank God for that but my liver will still be very compromised, my point is that our liver controls our whole health both physical, mental and emotional, if I'd only known 30 or 40 years ago, please rethink your drinking, your future depends on it

I'm sorry for you....and thank you for the reminder.

I thought I was "immune" to affects...because for years I have escaped.

Last week I was at Dr. with too many mysterious bruises on legs...Dr...said that my liver wasn't happy...but my blood work came out ok...

I don't know why I was shocked...I drank 22 years straight....and then 8 years sober...and then drank last 1.5 years.

It opened my eyes....for the first time..and Im 51...and so did your post :)

Interesting posts. When I was drinking, I frequently noticed unexplained bruises. I just figured they were from my stumbling around and knocking into things or later, falling. Now I remember bruises in odd places on my torso. I never knew there was a correlation to liver distress. These days, if I get a bruise, which is rare, I can easily recall the source.

hep c isn't from drinking at all if I am correct....but it is a horrid disease of the liver..and added to that drink it gets worse....anyway...sorry your so sick and hope that help comes your way...l never used IV drugs or I might be in that group who also suffered from hep c...it also can be from blood tranfusions but it is mainly from blood to blood contact to the best of my knowledge...might also have sexual aspects to it too...because the women bleeding and men passing semen

if I hadn't drank so much for so many years my liver wouldn't have been as compromised when I got hep c thank you all for your kind words and prayers, and drinking doesn't cause hep c but cirrhosis is the same where ever you get it from so please love yourselves and be kind to your health
