Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Today at my husbands doctors appointment. The last time I started binge drinking it was due to stress regarding his health. It's taking him longer to heal than he expected but nothing too terrible. He should be okay in the next 6-9 months.
Today I handled the situation differently. When we got home, my husband immediately had a shot and a beer. His disposition is pretty miserable and depressing. I asked him if he needed anything. He said no. I left it at that.
The old Beth would have started drinking right along with him. Normally if he's in a funk so am I. We'll you know what? Not anymore!
I keep telling myself I CAN do this. I will NOT allow myself to make excuses to drink.
Onward and Upward

Dick Van Dyke’s path to sobriety was a turning point in his life and career. Here’s what happened:How He Got SoberStruggles and Realization: Van Dyke began drinking as a teenager, largely to cope with shyness and social anxiety. Alcohol made him feel more comfortable in social settings, but over time, his drinking spiraled out of control. By his mid-40s, he recognized that he had an addictive...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

I had good news today about my health. The Oncologist said that the pain in my tongue is not due to cancer. I was worried for two weeks that the cancer came back.
Cju, I pray for a quick recovery for your brother.
6-9 months is a long time but he's regained all feeling in his arms again. To me, that is something to celebrate. As a bodybuilder he sees it as months without working out. Sometimes I annoy him by pointing out the good stuff. Too bad for him. I am just grateful he's going to be okay.
my grandpa used to say, "it could always be worse!" And you don't have to look too far to see someone else who has it worse. hopefully your husband can look at it that way. Thanks Beth, my brother is doing great! Just a long haul to total recovery
I'm sorry your husband has a way to go with his recovery process, and cju, I hope your brother is up and about very soon!
Imper, I'm happy for you that you got the all clear.l
Only you are in control of your destiny xxx
Good to hear your hubby is on the mend and though it will be 6to 9 months it's all good news. I can't even get my head around looking that far into the future any more 6 to 9 months and once that's were I lived either in the future or in the past .
Today and for a long time now I've been living in the day and it doesn't mean I don't still have goals in life I know there only possible if I take care of today.
And I to believe you can do this, talk about spiritual experiences look at ware you where a short while back and where you are today I see many changes just in your post it's there in black and white.
Keep doing what your doing .
God Bless...

This may sound weird but having alcohol in the house has curbed some of the obsession. If it's not here, I go crazy thinking about getting it. Now, I'm not going to ruin a whole day with a couple of hours of drinking. I do not miss being sick and dehydrated.
I also totally agree with Sober2day. I live in the day to the best of my ability, especially when I remember to GET present and enjoy. Even if its doing the dishes, or waiting in line. I try to be there.
I plan, I have goals, but I try not to get to attached to outcomes. Its hard but its a practice that's paid dividends in increased serentity thus far!
Keep on the sober path, it rocks
