Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Just wondering if you guys do anything to celebrate when you reach the anniversary of your sobriety. Today is my two year anniversary. I'm feeling grateful to be here but it's also an emotional day for me. My uncle is the one who took me to my first meeting two years ago today. I credit him for helping me get sober. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for the guidance he gave me. Sadly he passed away a year ago. It was devastating to our family. He had a ton of health issues and was having to have surgery on his lungs. The doctors were hopeful of a good recovery but he never woke back up after he was put under anesthesia. He was on life support and my family had to make the decision to take him off because he wasn't improving. I think of him often but especially today. I'm missing him a lot. I'm wanting to do something positive since it's a special day and would like to take my mind off of the sad things. Just wondering what y'all do on your anniversaries.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

And share my story for the newcomer.
Congratulations. 2 years felt so powerful, much more so than one year.
After I got my one year certificate, I swapped home groups to a meeting closer to where I lived and didn't bother to celebrate after that. I didn't want the recognition as I didn't think I needed it anymore, but in the beginning it was very helpful. and much appreciated....
You know....It's been my experience that during our darkest moments, God sends his angels to show us where to find the light. There have been people like that in my life and your uncle was one such person in your life. The biggest thing I have learned in recovery is that we are never alone. There will always be someone close by who will pick us up when we are down, weather we can see them or not, we are never alone and all we have to do is ask!
God Bless
