True humility and an open mind can lead us to faith . . .

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 33

My alcoholic thinking led me to believe that I could control my drinking, but I couldn't. When I came to A.A., I realized that God was speaking to me through my group. My mind was open just enough to know that I needed His help. A real, honest acceptance of A.A. took more time, but with it came humility. I know how insane I was, and I am extremely grateful to have my sanity restored to me and to be a sober alcoholic. The new, sober me is a much better person than I ever could have been without A.A.

This hits home for me. From my exp. early on a person I just meet came up to me after a meeting and told just this keep an open mind. Come to find out when I shared that day I was confused because it may have been my 2nd or 3rd meeting and the fog was still there. He just told just that Keep an open mind. Today he is a great friend and every time the subject comes up no words have to said just a smile.

To the newcomer, there is a SOLUTION.

Amen to that brother, I have found this to be true for me as well. In fact, I just posted something about feeling like a much better person. ha! :) Workin the steps is the best decision I've ever made.

Yes, it does take some time and early on, it pretty much sux, but now I see that it was SOOOOO worth the effort & pain to get to where I am now, sober and HAPPY! :)

Really G, I don't beleive there is anything more important than the HOW concept, at the start of sobriety, and throughout the whole journey. It opens the doors for more powerful stuff to operate.

You know though....atm...

I have a closed mind to some things. Perhaps I shall start a list.

My mind closes when I hear certain key words or phrases.

He won't stop and I don't know what to do.

Just be true to yourself and keep an open mind. You find what you are looking gofr but to be sure you have to listen in the meeting because one of these days the message may be for you. Good luck and just remember soberiety is your # 1 goal right now and keep up the good work.
