Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I would like to say go back through some of your journals here, and recall your reasons for thinking you are an alcoholic in the first place. Take a trip back in time in your mind and try to recall what it was like when drinking and what lead you here to this site and to AA.
Hugs and love,
Karen
Here for ya!
I would love to hear that one less person (you) was not an alcoholic, just needed to control it. Only you know this. Figure it out soon though, as I do not wish you any further pain if you are an alcoholic.
Your family and friends have personal not in your true best interests beliefs influencing their feelings and words. Your gut is telling you what you know to be true.
In the long run the friends you make in the rooms of AA will turn out to be much better , truer, dependable friends than the ones you have now.
Your family will come around unless you getting sober is making them look a their own problem in which case you can blaze a trail for them to follow if they choose.
I'm pulling for you. You don't really want to end up suffering from physical problems from drinking. You don't want to lose the love of your life like I did. You don't want to be changing jobs and making geographic runs every time your drinking catches up with you. You don't want to get in trouble with the law. I know none of these things have happened to you yet, but if you continue on the path you're on they probably will. After all Yet stands for Y.ou're E.ligible T.oo
If you are having to battle the battle in your mind, if you are questioning it at all, IMO you are trying to justify and deny - i remember that stage in my life - just because I could go without i was convinced i wasn't an alcoholic - that's so not true. i too had some famiy members and friends that tried to tell me i wasn't. For family i believe that they didn't want to have to look at themselves or they had too much sympathy for the friends, it meant another drinking buddy gone -
i will pray that YOU find the answer you are looking for - but I wouldn't be concerned about what others think or their input when it comes to the decision that could save your life.
Peace, hugs and blessings to you.
If when you honestly want to, you cannot quit entirely or, if when drinking you have little control over the amount you take, you are alcoholic. If that be the case you may be suffering from an illness (alcoholism) which only a spiritual experience will conquer.
Just one thing though, why don't you take your shit and dump it with a therapist or something and stop shitting over AA huh??? That's not what meetings are for, you wouldn't get away with it in a lot of places!
Some people who are "sick" in other ways than the drink have twisted thoughts and expect others to live the way they live.
I can see where you are coming from, experiementing with drinking. I feel if you have to "overthink" the drink there may be a problem. Im not saying alcoholism, maybe other things going on.
See, I never got the shakes, the DT, etc......but the life i am trying to create today, does not involve over indulging in the drink or anything for that matter.
My life was missing structure, goals and purpose. Now, day by day I am trying to weave those in my daily routine. It is tough, I have bad days and good days.
But my worse day is always better than that day waking up hungover wondering if i will ever stop. trying to figure out where i was going to get the money to cover my gambling last night to keep this and that from bounching. what lie i could tell why i didnt have any money.
the list goes on and one.
bottom line, if drinking or anything for that matter is having a negative impact on your life, maybe step back from what you are doing and take inventory of your life. see what needs adjustment, see if you are living the life YOU want to live, not someone else
Did I say wise beyond your ears wow the mind is working but the fingers are not cooperating.
I either meant wise beyond your years or wise between your ears not sure which but does it really matter.
All that really matters is that you avoid the first drink if you do that you won't get drunk.
That sounds like thier problem DHG, not yours.
