Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

It's clear that you are definitely drinking to "forget" or to self-medicate as has been pointed out. You definitely need to address and get to the heart of "what happened" and process it, analyze it and forgive it's effect on you. You very well probably need some help to do that. Are you an alcoholic? It's a stupid term but you are definitely dependent on it right now. I would highly suggest not to even try drinking for quite a while until you figure the other stuff out. Will you able to someday drink socially? Maybe, maybe not, but now is not the time to try and find out. You need to give it a long rest, maybe a permanent rest, but you don't have to put that pressure on yourself right now. Just know, that for the time being, you need to stop, figure out what's going on and find some inner peace and wholeness. Worry about next year or 5 years from now, later. Peace out, Rolf
I still have my friends who have been supporting me this week and taking me on these walks so I know I have someone to depend on, nice to know I can depend on your words aswell, add me as a friend and if you aever want to talk im here for you too:)
Your instincts are smart -- you are already at the extreme end of binge/heavy drinking which is too often rationalized as 'just what wild college kids do'.
If you want to stop completely, decide whether a full cold turkey would work, or if you should first -- stop drinking alone, and then, limit/pace yourself when with friends (start with a non-alcholic drink, work at nursing a drink, keep track of time, etc).
Again, you can stop this before it becomes years of a struggle to cut back or stop, and your body becomes your worst enemy (someone already mentioned your body will crave more as soon as you have your first sip).
For me, 'one's too many, ten's not enough.' So, I rarely drink. I found that saying I never drank, made it too much a temptation. As long as I have permission to give myself permission to have *A* glass of wine on special occasions, I normally don't need to have it. But that's my weird system after too many years of breaking promises to myself. I'm aware every day of this slippery slope.
Follow your instincts -- don't let alchohol have more control in your life.
Good luck.
From the way it sounds you are either borderline or over the line.
I am no one to judge but if you can drink a whole bottle...then you are not a social drinker.
I would suggest finding out a.s.a.p and find whatever resources you need to get your drinking in check.
Don't wait until you hit rock bottom...nip it in the bud now.
Best wishes
Today I know I'm an alcoholic. In admitting it it helps me recover.
