Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
It may help if you would elaborate on the reasons for your post. Do you have a problem with alcohol yourself Andrew and is that the reason for your post or do you just want to start a debate for the sake of debating?
Some studies may show that moderate alcohol intake can prolong lifespan and other studies will no doubt reach the opposite conclusion. My own totally unscientific opinion is that drinking in moderation can indeed be beneficial to health, for those who can drink moderately.
However, there is a sizeable percentage of the population that goes on to develop a problem with alcohol and some of these people become alcoholics. Many alcoholics will go to any lengths to justify their drinking rather than face up to the uncomfortable truth. Has alcohol become a problem for you Andrew and are you trying to find reasons to keep drinking?
The experience of many decades has shown that alcoholics just cannot drink safely. Attempts at moderation or controlled drinking will eventually fail, maybe immediately or maybe a little later, depending on the persons willpower and determination.
