Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
What would happen if you said you were not going to drink anymore?
If you hate your behavior when you start drinking, then maybe it is time to stop.
solution is pretty simple.
thanks
I never was physically dependant. I didnt get the shakes, I didnt drink every day, I could stop and stay stopped for a week, three, three months, but I'd eventually drink andwhen I did, it wasnt just one or two.Maybe the first time after a dry spell but eventually it was back to a bottle of wine, almost every night.
My definition of alcoholic is that I'm powerless over it.When I have a drink I'mgoing to get drunk even when that wasnt my intention. Even when I swore I wouldnt do it again (to myself) that very morning. By dinner time I was sipping wine till I was drunk.
The self deception was the worst.
And I totally TOTALLY agree with Greg.Normal drinkers don't worry they are alcoholic.
#2: feeling shameful the next day about your drinking. You know it hurts but you go out and do it AGAIN...doesnt seem right, does it?
#3: just because u dont have cravings now or feel physically dependent on alcohol doesnt mean its not gonna happen. Im 22 & started drinking when I was 14 it took me four years until I got cravings. I knew something was seriously wrong when I saw a billboard for millerlite and my mouth started to salivate.
maybe you should attend an open a.a meeting. I was in denial so many times until I started to go to meetings & knew this where I be longed and Ive never felt so much relation between a group of ppl.
Good luck!
Billy
One thing you said was, "I get very intoxicated, but I act very well..." are you sure about that? I only ask because I used to think I acted fine and normal and it was all good, only to find out I was VERY wrong and just didn't remember how I was really acting to other people.
Just be mindful. Sounds as if you already know the habit isn't a healthy one, no matter what label it may or may not have.....
