Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
You will do great
I so relate to your post. I have been skeptical on AA meetings but everyone has really encouraged me to go... And keep showing up. Well, today was my third meeting. I spoke for the first time after being called on. At first I said "no, not ready to talk". Then I said "yes" and told the group about me. This was the first time I had spoken about my drinking to anyone but my therapist. I felt so good after sharing and can't wait to go again tomorrow. Also, I don't know my version of a HP, yet! My job now is to just keep my progress moving forward and the doors will open. Best wishes!!
What I like about our Fellowship is that nobody can dictate who or what I should believe in ... and I wasn't belittled for not talking about God ... I was allowed the space to figure it out on my own. I still had that young girl's voice in my head saying, "Just try. What do you have to lose?" Before I knew it, I realized an awareness that I actually had a Higher Power all along!
I'm always excited when someone has a great experience at their first AA meeting and then want to keep going!
Stay on your Path to Happy Destiny!
but after ' white knuckling' it for a year and a half -
my sponsor told me ... not to think about it too much ...
but to add this to my routine ...
To thank my higher power for helping me stay sober yesterday ...
and to please help me stay sober today ...
I added it, didn't think much about it,
and it has become part of my routine and it has actually
become an important part of my sobriety ...
someone else told me ... our HP likes to show off a bit.
Enjoy your day,
Jimmy
