Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
For a more solid solution, I had to learn and to feel a good measure of humility, grace and forgiveness. That was the natural result of the 12 steps for me. I didn't even know what I was doing getting started and I didn't have too. I just knew I didn't want to drink anymore and I was willing to do anything it took.
What I got in return was much more than just losing the desire to drink. I'm learning a way to live that works.
Anger is a trigger, a nasty one because my thinking becomes distorted. And like when drinking I'll do or say things I wouldn't normally do.
Why the anger - who knows.
You know it be a trigger - you've done so well - you'll need to figure out how to handle it when it happens without turning to a drink.
Maybe you should make anger management a part of your program.
If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.

Last week in ended up in a blazing row with someone here... Guess what ? ... Yep, I drank ( only saving grace was it was carried out in private messages)
There was a few things that did help me early on that didn't involve kicking and throwing everything in site. For me anger hid fear, and there was a lot of fear beneath my emotions. Step 4 helped me look at why I was such an angry little chicky babe, and from there I learned how better to deal with my emotions.
There's a few things you can do to dissipate that anger almost immediately. Breathe, meditate and pray, go have a bubble bath, or take a walk. In your case, I'd encourage you to attend a meeting, call your sponsor and talk it through. Read the BB and journalling how I felt helped too. But truthfully, setting to work on the steps was the biggest help of all. I thought I would've needed anger management, but after that step 4, I just knew I was going to be okay.
Anna, I had a huge fear of not being able to cope without alcohol. But I couldn't cope with it. Do whatever it takes.
I am not an angry person these days and that came about through working the steps and a LOT of therapy. I can still get angry over things but I am not carrying around my own personal reservoir of anger any more.
Anger is a symptom of a wider problem, it can make us feel powerful and we can also feel that having it prevents people from coming too close and probably hurting us.
It is not so much anger itself that causes us to drink, but it's the way in which it manifests in our lives through bad, unkind or unloving behaviour that causes problems.
Ultimately, we drink because of one thing only - that is by not being in fit spiritual condition.
I get angry when I feel violated. I want to protect myself and want to make it stop. Not good.
We do have "to let things go".
Ask yourself, how important is it?
Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy...
