Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I could have done what you're doing for a while but I would have caved in to the vodka eventually. I made the best decision I ever made and drove to a local AA meeting and went in on my own, scared to death and found the warmest, most welcoming, wise, non-judgmental people ever.
That decision was also the best one I ever made in THEIR lives too.
But if you're like me, an alcoholic, getting it out of my head seems impossible.
I know what you mean about liking to drink. I do also. I have just decided that I JUST LIKE TO DRINK. Since I'm not causing any major problems anymore for anyone; no jails, no institutions, no family crises, I guess it makes it easier for me to just like to drink.
But I know I am causing major damage to myself. I also know that I just need to decide if I'm in or out - meaning, do I want to stop or keep on drinking until it kills me.
I'm working on it and your posts have helped a lot. Realizing I'm never alone in this battle is so, so helpful.
PJ54 made a good suggestion for you to post every day. Try to stay away from the blame game. Your daughter didn't get you drunk. Your right arm did. Hang in there. Do you have a plan for staying sober? If you really start to come unhinged, you might want to reconsider AA or another program. It's a beautiful day to be sober. Enjoy it!
As for grumpy....yes, early sobriety for me was totally up and down. i was all over the place. The most important thing though is I didnt drink.
Just remember that. its job one. Everything else, including being socially acceptable...is secondary:-)
