Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I have 7 years of continueous sobriety today. I am happy and content with myself and my life. I like who I am and I love myself. No more shame, I have learned to accept who I was and who I am now. I have a spiritual life. The things that my disease took away from me have been restored - family, friends, relationships, self-worth and self-esteem.
I am one happy (and sober) camper today.
I am sober today thanks to the 12 step program of AA. And my Higher Power, whom I call God, and the fellowship of AA. I won't preach here, but if you would like to know how I got sober, and more importantly, how I maintain sobriety, PM me. I will happily let know know what it was like, what happened and what it is like now.

I absolutely loved your post.
The style & QUALITY of YOUR sobriety came 'blasting' through without some of the fanfare ( rah rah ) style I sometimes use.
Just about everything we work for & speak of came through
in your post. You sound like YOUR in a really good place.
Some of us could get 70 yrs. and not get what you have ...
but we can keep trying.
YOU Have what I want & I'm gonna keep working to get it.
